MyMusicRx-clusive: Kelsea Ballerini Tells Lyla When She Started Singing

Delivering the healing power of music with the Children’s Cancer Association

December 3, 2019

Today is Giving Tuesday, and we’re spotlighting a cause very close to our heart.

RADIO.COM has teamed up with the Children’s Cancer Association and MyMusicRX, to bring questions from kids facing cancer or other serious illnesses directly to their favorite artists. Music’s biggest stars like Dan + Shay, the Jonas Brothers, Luke Combs, and more each took time to answer these amazing young people, and we’re proud to share it with you.

Via video, we connect artists with kids like Lyla for an exclusive personal response. It all happens with the help of MyMusicRX, who for over 24 years has provided one-on-one music experiences just like this to relieve some of the stress and anxiety of being in the hospital.

“My question is for Kelsea,” Lyla says, as Kelsea Ballerini looks on with love. “My question is, at what age did you start singing?”

Kelsea lights up as a smile comes across her face. “Hi Lyla, thank you for your question,” she responds with a wave. “I actually started singing super young – in church and with my choirs in middle school and high school – but I started writing songs when I was twelve and that’s when I completely fell in love with music, and knew that I wanted to do it for the rest of my life.”

You can watch the full video of Lyla and Kelsea Ballerini above, and stay tuned for more videos this week from MyMusicRX and the Children’s Cancer Association.

MyMusicRx provides bedside service at all children’s hospitals in Portland, OR, as well as at St. David’s Medical Center and Dell Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic in Austin, TX, and at Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Plus is available across the country for all kids to access.
