Everyone who gets a COVID vaccine will be issued a vaccination card, health officials say

(KMOX) - Americans who receive a COVID-19 vaccine will be getting a "vaccination card" to keep as evidence of their shots, health officials say.

The Department of Defense showed off the card on Thursday, which tracks the date and serial number of each vaccine shot, along with where it was administered and when the next shot is due. They say it will be the "simplest" way to keep track of who has received vaccinations.

The cards will be included in each vaccine kit, which also includes a needle, syringe, mask, and alcohol wipes.

Officials have said the first round of vaccines could begin as early as Dec. 15th if Pfizer's vaccine is approved by the FDA next week.

The nation’s top infectious disease expert has now warned that COVID-19 will continue to affect lives unless an “overwhelming majority” take the vaccine, CBS News reported. Fauci also urged Americans to get vaccinated if they want to be “part of the solution” to the global outbreak.

“So, if you want to be part of the solution, get vaccinated and say ‘I’m not going to be one of the people that is going to be a stepping stone for the virus to go to somebody else, I’m going to be a dead end to the virus,’” Fauci said.

On Wednesdy, it was revealed the United Kingdom will become the first country to authorize Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use. The rollout is expected to begin as early as next week.
